So this weekend hubs and I took the boys to the Bluegrass on the Beach Festival, and we had so much fun!
Elias totally looked like a little old man. He had gotten this “America” hat at the festival last year and wanted to wear it again when we went. I love it. 🙂 Enoch rocked Joshua’s hat most of the day because I’m a loser and totally forgot his! Both kids successfully came home with absolutely no sunburn, so that’s a win.
Anyhow, the weather was gorgeous. We planned on going Saturday, but it was super windy! Sunday was perfect. Slightly breezy, warm, yet still crisp. It felt so nice! And the venue was beautiful because you literally have the lake right next to you and mountains in the background. This was the second time having Josh there with me, which was amazing! Most of the years I went without him because he was off somewhere in the military and couldn’t come home. It’s crazy to think I used to go to this with my parents, and now I’m taking my two little boys. Time flies!
One of my favorite things (besides the amazing music, weather, and seeing my boys play and dance) was this Organic Made to Order Fruit Freeze booth! She juiced everything fresh and blended it with ice and it was amazing. Although, it led to us getting swarmed by bees. One actually went on Elias’s mouth! I was so proud of him..he totally kept his cool and gently and slowly swiped it away without getting stung. To get away from the bees we swooped the boys up and started walking around the vendor booths. We found this one really neat booth called Wildwood Soapworks that made soaps from organic ingredients and therapeutic grade oils. We got the Wanderlust bar…it smells INSANE!!! Like so good. It’s ridiculous. Josh also treated me to some Honey Almond Lip Balm that the guy sold, and it’s by far my favorite I’ve ever had.
After we escaped the bees and got our yummy soap, we went back to our spot and relaxed. Enoch fell asleep on Josh which was adorable. 🙂 We decided at that point we needed ice cream. Oh my goodness, it was so good. Josh got a cookies and cream cone, I got mint chip (one of my faves), and Elias got a classic cone with chocolate ice cream. Between his ice cream cone, America hat, and his little linen collared button up, he couldn’t have looked more old school. It was precious!
The music was awesome. One of my favorite bands we heard while we were there was Wayne Taylor and Appaloosa. They did some beautiful bluegrass versions of old hymnals which were some of my absolute favorites. It was a perfect way to have some worship on a beautiful Sunday.
When we went to leave, Elias insisted on carrying his own little chair, which was pretty much the cutest thing ever!
I hope y’all had a nice weekend! I feel so blessed that we were able to relax and spend time together as a family. I hope the boys continue to love this little family tradition and laugh when they look back at photos of them with grass on their butts and ice cream on their faces. 🙂
